The name came about due to the complexity that is the female brain.  Allow me to elaborate.

I had been sharing with folks my idea to start a cupcake bakery and, for the most part, I received two very different reactions to this news depending on the gender of the person reacting;

Standard Female Reaction “No way!  Really?  Oooohhhh that’s so awesome!  I love cupcakes!  What a great idea!”

Standard Male Reaction “No way.  Really?  Cupcakes, huh?  Like, regular cake, but smaller?  You’re probably going to have to make the cupcakes really big if you want people to buy them, you know?”

Wait, what?  I just couldn’t wrap my head around where the guys were coming from.  Who wants to eat a gigantic cupcake?  Gross.  If I ate a huge cupcake the first several bites would be, of course, pure cupcake bliss, but by the last bite I’d be experiencing intense feelings of guilt for having just consumed a bunch of “luxury” calories.  This would lead to a quick mental calculation of exactly how many calories I just consumed and contemplation over where those calories might deposit themselves on my body (My butt?  Belly?  Thighs?  The underside if my arms?).  Mild panic over what I would have to do to burn off said calories would ensue and then manifest into stress over how I was going to fit that extra hour of exercise into my already over extended day, and on and on and on…

This is how the female mind works (Or maybe it’s just my female brain?).  Really.  I know, I’m amazed by it too.

Most women I know don’t want to buy and eat an obscenely large cupcake.  We’re not looking for a meal.  We’re looking for a distraction from our day.  A sweet nibble.   A treat to reward good behavior.  A mini celebration.  We want to feel like we’re getting away with something.  We want to behave badly, but not so badly that we feel bad about it.  We want a little something naughty in our lives.  Hence the name was born – The Naughty Little Cupcake Company.

Don’t fret guys (or girls who want to eat really big cupcakes).  I wouldn’t dream of leaving you out of all the naughtiness.  I appreciate your input and plan to have a Big Naughty on the menu just for you.
