About Me

Hi.  I’m Tiff (yes, as in Tiffanie, but no, I don’t like Tiffanie, so you can just call me Tiff).

I suppose I should start off with some straight forward honesty here; I never, ever imagined I’d be a blogger, let alone a blogger who blogs about baking and not just baking, but specifically baking cupcakes.

If I were ever to have allowed myself to imagine that I could be a blogger, I imagine I would have imagined blogging about kayaking or mountain biking or trail running or back country skiing or any other outdoor recreational pursuit I’ve used to define myself over the years. A mountain town girl whose entire adult life has revolved around playing outside doesn’t blog about cupcakes, I mean, seriously, what the hell is going on here?  Cupcakes are not cool, they are definitely not hard core and they’re kind of, well let’s be honest, sissy, and sissy is something I’ve been trying to avoid for most of my life.  So, there in lies the dilemma I’m having in writing “about” myself on a blog whose topic (cupcakes) stereotypically embodies nearly the exact opposite of how I see myself.

When I brought my conundrum up to a dear friend (who is, for the record, much, much wiser than I) she said, in a quite matter of fact manner, “You’ve got to stop looking at yourself as so one-dimensional.”  Hmmm.  Good point.  I’ll work on that.

In the meantime, while I continue to work through the identity crisis I’m clearly and currently experiencing, there are still some things I know “about” myself for certain…

  • I am a girl who loves to play outside.
  • I am a girl who drives a black truck with a topper and a rack and when the rack is fully loaded with kayaks I think it looks really cool.
  • I am a girl who tends to over use semi-colons and bullet points, a lot.
  • I am a girl who still compares every man I meet to my father and cries sometimes when I think about him not being around someday.
  • I am a girl who loves dogs and desperately wants to be a “dog person”, but hates dog hair.
  • I am a girl who is addicted to the endorphins that are released in my body when I exercise.
  • I am a girl who won’t count it as exercise if it didn’t hurt just a little bit.
  • I am a girl who, if forced to choose between never eating chocolate again or never eating cheese again, would choose rather to throw myself off the nearest bridge in despair.
  • I am a girl who has a serious and financially crippling designer jean fetish.
  • I am a girl who loves to dance hard.  In fact, I once danced so hard I blew the ass out of a pair of my designer jeans.  True story.
  • I am a girl who believes self-confidence issues would cease to exist for most of us if we could all just see ourselves through the eyes of our friends.
  • I am a girl who has a debilitating weakness for guys with strong, well defined forearms who can paddle Class V (that one’s for you, Evan).
  • I am a girl who will say it’s all about getting out and having fun, but what I really mean is that I want badly to win (cause 2nd place is just the 1st loser, right?).
  • I am a girl who looks her best when covered in dirt and sweat.
  • I am a girl who bakes cupcakes and blogs about it.
